I came across a story on LinkedIn that really moved me. Harshitha, from a small village called Pocharam, lost her father when she was just 13. Since then, her mother became both mom and dad to her and her younger sister. “My mom treats me like a son,” Harshitha says. “She’s my everything.” Life was hard. Her mother worked as a housekeeper, and Harshitha had to grow up quickly. But no matter how tough things got, she always believed: I will keep moving forward. In 2018, she joined Seva Bharathi’s Kishori Vikasa Kendram, where she found support, mentorship, and confidence. That changed everything. Today, Harshitha is in her second year of BBA at Andhra Mahila Sabha College. She recently won Best Kabaddi Player at an inter-college competition — a huge moment for her. And in 2023, she became a Nirvahika (coordinator) at the same Kendram, now helping other girls rise just like she did.

Durga is a young girl who always wanted to help others. While she was studying, she joined Kishori Vikas as a volunteer. This changed her life. She learned many new things and became more confident. Even though she was busy with her studies and helping others, she worked hard and passed her B.Sc. with 86%. At Kishori Vikas, she learned computer skills, how to talk to people, and how to work with a team. These skills helped her grow. Her biggest inspiration is her mother, who also works as a Kishori Coordinator. Her mother taught her how to help other girls and work with love and care. Durga even inspired her younger sister to do better in school. With Seva Bharathi’s support, Durga got a job as an HR Trainee at Shell Infotech.

Recently, she inaugurated her 16th library in Neredmet, Secunderabad, marking yet another achievement in her mission to make books and knowledge available to people who cannot afford to buy books. Her mission started at the age of 9, Akarshana went to MNJ Cancer Children’s Hospital in Hyderabad and saw the children’s eagerness to read. Inspired by this, she began requesting books from her relatives, friends, and neighbors to create a small initiative offering books to those in need.. For someone battling not just age but also loneliness, the road ahead seemed bleak. But as soon as our team received the call, we knew we had to act swiftly. Our volunteers, known for their dedication and compassion, quickly mobilized. Despite the challenges posed by time and logistics, the team ensured Gangamma was transported safely to the hospital.
